Sailing with the Leaches!

We had a blast yesterday sailing on the Puget Sound, compliments of my friends, Dan and Karen Leach. Dan was a client of mine on the Microsoft Office marketing team when I worked in PR before going back to school. He left Microsoft back in 2005 to go back to school and learn to be a marine carpenter -- a gutsy and admirable move to follow his dreams. When he found out we were moving up to Seattle, he generously offered to take us out sailing sometime. It took me a while to take him up on it, but I'm so glad I did! What a blast we all had -- me, D and my nephew from Auburn.

Below are a few pictures from the adventure... First things first -- Dan had us hoist the pirate flag and don the pirate gear...

Despite the grey weather, we struggled to find wind (those from my HR Trax program at Microsoft last year will comiserate with this). But we were able to find a light breeze for a while, and Dan let Master D take the helm, to his great delight.
One of the boys' favorite parts of the trip was sitting out over the water on the seat at the front of the boat.
I enjoyed the first-time experience doing something I've always wanted to do, as well as the great company of two wonderful people. Thanks again Dan and Karen!
