Creations, Part 1

Last night, I had a fun jaunt down memory lane as I sorted through the old trunk that holds all my stuff from high school and friends, etc. Lots of good memories... I wish I had a scanner, as I found some old photos that would be fun to post (e.g., couple photos of me, Greg, Becca, Kim J. and others in high school, etc.). I'll find some way sometime to post them... I also got a kick out of Kim J's note in my senior yearbook, the first line of which included the word "mass" (a la "mass cool"). Ah, those were the days... :)

I also came across my work from my creative writing class in college (undergrad) and thought someone might get a kick out of my more creative side... If you don't like it, don't tell me. Just have a chuckle to yourself... ;) I'll post a couple of them over the next few days. Here's the first:

A Change of Heart

Somewhere between your doorstep and my car,
I lost a bit of wisdom from my grasp.
And though the journey did not seem too far,
The winds of passing seasons paused to ask
What aim I took to heart in loving there;
And, pondering, the time slipped from my hands;
Yet for such thought, the winds no time would spare.
The explanation offered then -- "To stand."

A man can no more stand alone in love
Than rivers flow along without a bed.
From him who holds such ends will be repealed
The strength and wisdom from the One above.
And so the aim I took to heart instead --
A simple change of heart and soul -- "To kneel."

oh please tell me there are no references in that poem to anyone I might know...that it is strictly a spiritual parallel...

Oh...for a small fee, places like Inkleys will scan your photos to a CD.

If I remember correctly, I wrote it in memory of an experience I had with K before we got married. You know - in that "praying to see if it's right" phase of the relationship... ;) Who were you thinking?
